| Upgraded Gearbox O-Ring
|
To fit the Shaft entering the top of the gearbox as shown in the Picture All models use an ‘O’-ring to control freeplay between the vertical shaft and upper bush casing where it enters the top of the gearbox. As you can imagine excessive free-play in this location translates to significantly more freeplay at the gearlever. The freeplay is much more of an issue on Right-Hand drive models due to their complex gear linkage but Left-Hand drive models use the same bush/ring and can also benefit from changing it. Upgraded Bush This is a NEW O-Ring, fractionally thicker than the Original fitment Item which can be seen in the Photo of the rings side by side.A worn ring is shown on the left. The original New Peugeot/Citroen O-ring (no longer available from the dealers) is shown in the middle, and the New upgraded bush is shown on the Right. They have the same inner diameter to fit over the shaft however the upgraded O-ring is approximately 0.25mm thicker. This provides a tighter fit in the housing and "crushes" the bush fractionally to ensure a snug fit on the shaft. . This bush should contribute to reducing the free play in your mechanism which would result in a more precise gear selection. Lasts a very long time. I recently pulled one that I fitted 15,000 miles ago and it is hardly worn at all.
